Suspension

Sighing as the dim sunset casts a thick shadow
I am reduced to inhaling and exhaling
And inhaling and exhaling
No good is born of my pregnant yet exanimate mind
Ensnared in the pinched neck of a cruel hourglass
Bobbing in the violent, inconstant surf
The hostile sea of yes, no, maybe
Swallow me up and spit me out
Tear down progress, replace with uncertainty
And ultimately leave me bereft of substance
Buoyancy, gravity - everything is null
Until once again the radiant sun fills the mourning sky
And all discontentment is quieted away
On the zephyr of deliberate yet indiscriminate love
